Boneham & Turner open their doors to engineering students
Last week, we welcomed engineering students from All Saints Catholic Academy and the Indonesia International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) University of Nottingham for our first student open day.
The purpose of the day was to highlight the importance of engineering #apprenticeships and to showcase our manufacturing techniques. Two of our apprentices, Noah Allsopp and Naomi Richardson, participated in a Q & A session, providing an insight into their achievements and goals whilst working with Boneham & Turner. All Saints’ students found this “really beneficial”.
“We gained a lot of insight from our visit to Boneham & Turner. We were very grateful and honoured for having this opportunity.” IISMA students.
The tour and talks were led by our co-Managing Directors, Charlie Boneham and Peter Boneham, along with Stacy Denton-Beaumont, Group General Manager, and Ben Courts, Regional Membership Manager for Midlands & East of England at Make UK.
Ben Courts commented “The students were engaged and interested in the opportunity to see manufacturing first hand and get a good understanding of what a career in industry looks like.”
“We cannot underestimate the importance of showing students different pathways into engineering and manufacturing, other than University. For over a century Boneham & Turner have provided opportunities to young people in the Ashfield area, investing in the future of the manufacturing, engineering, and increased skills in the local area. We are delighted to have such a strong relationship with All Saint’s and the University of Nottingham, which allows us to do this.” quoted Stacy Denton-Beaumont
IISMA is a scholarship scheme by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia to fund Indonesian students for a one semester-mobility program at top universities and reputable industries overseas.
