What are forged Imperial hoist rings used for?

A forged steel imperial swivel hoist ring or otherwise known as a swivel eye bolt is a piece of lifting hardware that screws into an object as a lift point for rigging to connect for hoisting and traveling. Similar to the traditional static eye bolt but for a 360-degree swivel and 180-degree pivot. This swivel and pivot action can accommodate angular lifts unlike the fixed bolt which is heavily compromised. Swivel hoist rings are marked according to ASME B30.26. Subsequently they are stamped or forged with the manufacturers trademark load rating and torque value. Each hoist ring is delivered with a Certificate of Conformance referencing the serial number which is also marked on the ring. The serial number can also be used for documenting statuary LER checks.
