Description

Extractable Stepped Dowel Pins 2.4mm to 10mm

What are extractable stepped dowel pins? Extractable Stepped Dowel pins are alignment and location pins for use in applications such as the composite mould tool process. The stepped dowel design has a larger head featuring a tapped hole for pulling the dowel from its location point, often a serrated location bush (GS Type).

How do headed dowels for composites work? The larger diameter head of the stepped locator dowel helps prevent resin build up between the doweling and internal diameter of the location bush. The smaller diameter of the stepped dowel is ground to h6 with a polished finish to reduce friction and resin build-up.

What sizes do Stepped Dowels come in? Boneham Extractable Stepped Dowel Pins feature two length variations which are 35mm and 45mm under the head (which is the working pin length). All standard diameters feature a 12mm diameter head and an M8 tapped hole for extraction.

What materials are stepped dowels made from and how are they finished? All stepped pins are manufactured from 303 stainless steel as standard. They also feature the pins size and brand etched on the head for easy identification in application. For other material types, coated versions or special sizes, please contact our Technical Sales Team.

To extract the dowels easily consider the DPE Dowel Pin Extractor Tool manufactured by Boneham and the 8mm extractor head.
