Position: Quality Lead


To ensure all systems, processes and products relating to Boneham & Turner are compliant, robust, and meet Customer requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist in the final inspection of machined parts
  • Lead internal AS9100 Audits & be wholly responsible for the Company QMS
  • Be a proactive member of the AS9100 Contract Review Team and educate internal Stakeholders on quality standards
  • Ensure the company is compliant to the applicable Standards & internal processes are adhered too
  • Maintain & manage calibration of onsite equipment
  • Thoroughly investigate all Customer and Supplier non-conformities, identifying root cause and undertaking corrective actions and the monitoring of improvements
  • Improve the document storage and management of all Quality documents
  • Complete First Article Inspection reports and any Customer Quality required documentation, aligning with the Operations Team ensuring a seamless on-time despatch
  • Attend the Operations daily Boardwalks highlighting any quality defects and working with Operations to identify improvements
  • Management of non-conforming products for scrap or rework and the communication thereof, making certain we limit potential disruption to the committed despatch date
  • Manage process for Customer Concession requests and the communication between internal teams
  • Oversee Supplier Capability and Compliance monitoring; working with Supply Chain to confirm suitability
  • Collaborate with the Global Supply Chain to guarantee conformance
  • Support internal departments with customer facing quality issues

The Person:

  • Qualifications in Engineering are required (either manufacturing or mechanical)
  • Working knowledge of materials and material processing would be advantageous
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment
  • Good working knowledge of the AS9100 and ISO9100 standards
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies
  • Identify improvements and support in the implementation
  • Proficient in the use of verniers, micrometres and other optical inspection tools
  • Methodical and organised approached to tasks
  • Skilled in RCCA handling
  • Able to read & understand Engineering Drawings and Customer specifications
  • Willingness to learn about new products & manufacturing methods
  • Great eye for detail with an innate desire to improve business processes and standards
  • Mentor Junior Staff and Apprentices
  • Passion for Aerospace and Motorsport

Position: Grinding Operative – Centreless


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Setup and run centreless and plunge grinding machines
  • Look for improvements in manufacture and the process of grinding components, whilst making recommendations to aid efficiency and add value
  • Maintain and monitor machine to make sure it functions properly and at its optimum
  • Build a deep understanding of the workings of our grinding equipment
  • Conduct in process quality checks in line with stage inspection criteria
  • Be responsible for completed operations through sign off.
  • Adjust machine as needed for changeovers, different functions, or other varying needs of production
  • Highlight deviations / errors / discrepancies in work instructions
  • Work in line with SQDCP values of the company
  • Adhere at all times to company PPE and H&S requirements
  • Keep areas of work clean and tidy to ensure operational efficiency in line with 5S standards

The Person:

  • Experience of working and maintaining speciality machinery in a manufacturing setting
  • Centreless grinding experience to precise tolerances
  • Ability to read production drawings and read micrometres and other inspection instruments
  • Determination to offer excellent Customer Service
  • Committed to quality 
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically
  • Ability to multi-task and work to deadlines
  • Capability to work independently and prioritise workload
