Position: Sales Estimator
The Sales Estimator will possess the experience and production knowledge to handle all aspects of producing costs, and maintaining BOM’s, by understanding manufacturing processes and sourcing options to exceed our customer’s specific requirements. Take ownership of the RFQ process, cradle (enquiry) to grave (quotation delivery/order).
To drive customer-centric continuous improvement, focusing on cost, delivery and quality enhancements, around value added processes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Respond to special customer enquiries by email and phone to gather all required information to build the best possible solution.
- Review and process all Requests for Quotes (RFQ) from Customers according to agreed prioritisation, and to meet or exceed, customer expectation.
- Communicate directly with the customer and internal teams on any issues or questions regarding the RFQ’s
- Produce CAD drawings and manufacturing times using SolidWorks where required
- Form part of the internal feasibility team
- Support in the development of product and process standardisation and new product development.
- Update the ERP system with BOM’s, part numbers and pricing
- Work with Engineering to review customer drawings, where needed, to identify requirements
- Undertake Contract Review requirements, as & when required, to ensure adherence to Customer requests and quality standards
- Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above
- Review and process all quotes within the process guidelines
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with Colleagues. Ensure a high level of communication with Strategic account holders for mutual sales gain.

The Person:
- Previous experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment
- Experience in using SolidWorks or similar
- Passion for delivering to customer expectation and seeing quotes convert
- A problem solving, solution building mindset
- Strong understanding of engineering processes
- Knowledge of SAP preferred but not required
- Good, working knowledge of Microsoft Office; particularly Excel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Confident telephone manner
- Cradle to grave mentality and accountability
- Capability to work independently and prioritise workload
- Experience in negotiating and diplomacy
- Keen interest in motorsport and/or aerospace would be of benefit

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Setup and run centreless and plunge grinding machines
- Look for improvements in manufacture and the process of grinding components, whilst making recommendations to aid efficiency and add value
- Maintain and monitor machine to make sure it functions properly and at its optimum
- Build a deep understanding of the workings of our grinding equipment
- Conduct in process quality checks in line with stage inspection criteria
- Be responsible for completed operations through sign off.
- Adjust machine as needed for changeovers, different functions, or other varying needs of production
- Highlight deviations / errors / discrepancies in work instructions
- Work in line with SQDCP values of the company
- Adhere at all times to company PPE and H&S requirements
- Keep areas of work clean and tidy to ensure operational efficiency in line with 5S standards
The Person:
- Experience of working and maintaining speciality machinery in a manufacturing setting
- Centreless grinding experience to precise tolerances
- Ability to read production drawings and read micrometres and other inspection instruments
- Determination to offer excellent Customer Service
- Committed to quality
- Ability to work accurately and methodically
- Ability to multi-task and work to deadlines
- Capability to work independently and prioritise workload
